Writing an effective essay is about more than just the words you use. However, it may be possible to arrange a study in such a way that details of a specific study can be advertised as in (ii). For example, for studies collecting information about age, gender and ethnicity, the following protocol can be used provided all 3 conditions are satisfied: (1) ask participants to select ONS pre-defined higher order categories (Black, White, Asian, Mixed or Other, and have the option to skip the question if they wish), (2) if you are using social media accounts to recruit participants, you need to ensure that it is large with 500+ members and (3) you need to work in a group of 2 or 3 so that 2 or 3 social media accounts are used simultaneously so it will not be possible to identify whose account the respondent came from. These precautions will ensure it is impossible to link the demographic information to an individual with any level of certainty.
